ACE VAPRSAROV
On joining Falling Like Stars:

When I met Judy, we talked about poetry, film, and literature. I was struck by her keen sense of drama and ardent taste in art. She described to me her musical film project about two couples who fall in love in a fictional desert town. I strongly resonated with the plot, and upon receiving the script I started reading and discovered a gem of a story. The characters and scenery were magnificent and I could clearly visualize the setting, with vivid colors, details of movement and music. This feature film project is a marvelous and sweet story of love, abandonment, redemption, and mystery. It was more than exciting to co-write the music for these two songs with Judy.

Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria in a musically inclined family, composer and guitarist Ace Vaptsarov has a huge fascination and love for music and the emotion it carries. After picking up the guitar and starting a band at a young age, new musical horizons opened up that led him to the discovery and study of classical and flamenco music and later film music. Learning computer music production and sound design was a big step forward, and crafting music for films became the natural way to go.

For Ace, the most important element in music and in life is good, emotive storytelling, and the marriage between music and moving images. Since coming to Los Angeles in 2017, Ace has composed music for the award-winning 30-minute short film TENT, a Formula 1 Race Car VR promo video, over 10 short films, commercials, trailers, and two VR experiences.

Ace composed the music for the Puerto Rican short film Over His Dead Body, which had a festival run across the U.S. and won the Audience Choice Award at the 2017 Rincon Film Festival.  He was the composer for the short film Purple, which won first prize at the 2018 Mumbai Film Fest and an Honorable Mention at the 2019 Hollywood Screenings Festival. Purple was also selected at Los Angeles Cinefest as a semi-finalist and was chosen to screen at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival as part of the shorts program.

As a guitarist, Ace has performed in bands and played professionally with renowned orchestras. In December 2016, he created and performed a special concert called Ace Plays Opera in Ruse, Bulgaria. The program included a selection of 16 popular arias from classic operas, which were performed by Ace on electric guitar accompanied by the symphony orchestra and choir of the Rousse State Opera with conductor Vladimir Boshnakov.
